The Thargoid Ship
The Thargoid Ship is an alien vessel of confirmed origin. Examples of this alien ship were first encountered on January 5, 3303; Commanders were interdicted by Thargoid Ships while traveling through hyperspace and pulled into normal space with their systems disabled, after which they were scanned and the Thargoid Ships jumped away. Thargoid Ships bear a strong resemblance to the wreckage found at Alien Crash Sites.

WHAT DO WE KNOW?
Very little is currently known about the capabilities of Thargoid Ships. They have been seen deploying what are known as ‘Thargons’ smaller drone like objects controlled by the Thargoid itself. The Thargoids do have the ability to interdict human ships traveling through hyperspace: Commanders experiencing an interdiction are alerted by their ships that their hyperspace conduit has become unstable shortly before dropping out of hyperspace due to a Frame Shift Drive malfunction, in this case up to 3 Thargoids could be in your instance the Hyperdiction this seems to a passive experience.
All ship systems and controls with the exception of life support are disabled by the interdiction, similar to the effect produced by scanning Thargoid Probes, but with a longer duration and a more noticeable EMP shock wave.
Thargoid Ships are also known to have scanners of some kind which they utilize on those whom they interdict, as well as jump drives that leave a Unknown Thargoid wake signature. While the wake signature can be scanned, it is unidentifiable, currently making impossible to pursue an Thargoid Ship; attempting to charge the FSD with this signature as the destination results in another FSD malfunction.
Thargoid Ships are extremely hard to defeat in combat, their weaponry is advanced and powerful. The Thargon Swarm can cause catastrophic damage if you are unprepared for it. They also produce yellow ‘lightning’ strike, we can cause heavy damage to your shields and Hull. They have a very fluid movement making their actions smooth compared to that of Human ships.
The ships appears to have striking similarities to the crashed aliens ships found around the Pleiades Nebula/region, it is widely theorized that the crashed ships are detachable from this ship and use as a “fighter” type ship in comparison with this large ship, though this is just theories.
In a interview with Dr.Strange one of the Xeno-Technology department heads he stated:
“I have studied alien technology since the discovery of the Unknown Artefact, and they all appear to have unique qualities to each of them, The Unknown Artefact scans your ship, The Unknown Probe lets out a type of EMP disabling your ship, and this….this can pull you out of hyperspace and scan with some sort of immense scanning system. The level of technology we are dealing with is highly advanced, we can only hope and pray that these things aren’t hostile.
After closer analysis of this ship some have noticed some strong evidence towards the origin of the crashed ships found in the Pleiades sector.
In November 3303 within the Electra system in the Pleiades sector Threat 6 Non-Human Signal Sources were discovered, within them was a new type of Thargoid Interceptor, after scanning, these vessels were known as Basilisk Variant, they appear to do the same process as the Cyclops variant, but are able to deploy up to 64 Thargons, and have a different colored pattern on their hull. With the amount of Thargons they have, they are more lethal than the Cyclops variant.
Some have came to theorize that the back end of the live ship bares a huge amount of similarity to that of the crashed ships leaving many to believe the crashed ship is some sort of detachable fighter like craft, and explains why some of the crashed ships are surrounded by crashed Type-9’s and Anaconda’s . However this is challenged on closer inspection of their actions in signal sources, and seem to the origin of the Thargons, or where they’re launched from at least.
Though these are just mere theories and none can be confirmed nor denied at this point in time.
THARGOID ENCOUNTERS IN DISTRESS CALLS AND SS
Following these encounters several distress calls were located in the Maia region first, when entered these distress signals would hold a wrecked federal ship with a green aura.
On entry, you will be clearly able to see a ship that has been destroyed, that is surrounded in a green smog, you will also see the exit of an Thargoid ship. Which begs the question, Did it attack it? And why? Over the past few weeks more of these beacons have been located, they appear to be getting closer to sol, the nearest at the time of writing this is approx 150 ly.
More specifically in Non-Human Signal sources a wreckage can also be seen, with a more dominant Thargoid ship within the smog, on entering these the Thargoid vessel will make its way towards you, and proceed with a scan, if you refuse to submit the scan, and proceed to run, or back away from said scan, the ship will turn hostile, deploy the Thargons and attack you.
If you have a Thargoid Sensor/Probe/Link/ Meta Alloy, in your cargo hold and do not Jettison these items, it will also proceed to attack you. If you do proceed to drop the items after the scan, the Thargoid will attempt to pick these items up. The Thargoid will then return to its previous action of scanning the destroyed vessel and cargo that is scattered around the site, from an observation perspective it appears to be looking for something. If you get to close to the ship, it will deploy the Thargons, and will being to glow red this can be interpreted as a warning sign, and if you proceed to go any closer, it WILL attack you with force.
Sometimes depending on the amount of the objects dropped you may have the chance to see a second Thargoid vessel enter the instance, it will most notable jump in, before creating an EMP blast, that makes your ship in-operable at the time, both vessels will then make their leave.
In certain distress calls you will find entire wrecked capital ships one of these can be found at HIP 17044
THARGOIDS IN COMBAT
Thargoids are extremely powerful when it comes to combat, they are able to deploy Thargons which come in swarms, this can be catastrophic to your shields and Hull if you are unprepared, if you manage to evade, and survive this attack you will instantly notice they will attempt to use what can only be descried as a yellow lightning laser which can be very harmful to your ship. Most of their damage will have ‘caustic’ properties to them (Corrosive).
The recently formed Aegis research division have been creating weapons to counter their attacks, and to attack them. Some of these include the AX Missiles which can be fairly effective against them. If scanned with Palins Xeno Scanner you will find that on your sub target panel the Thargoid will have 4 hearts, this can be selected and used to weaken and kill the Thargoid.
If killed Thargoids will drop the Thargoid Heart, Weapon parts, Bio Mechanical components, propulsion elements and Wreckage components.

If you are paying close attention to the Thargoids, you will notice that above the central eye or ‘cockpit’ you will notice a marking, this marking bears very close resemblance to the markings displayed on the Barnacles. There have been roughly 22 different markings found. It’s unknown what these markings mean. Some people believe it could be Factions or Clans, and others simply believe it may be Unique to the species. An in depth research of these markings is taking place. First to start researching in-depth was Orodir as well as a few others. Here are some of his images, and work below. And here’s a link to the ongoing study. THARGOIDS AT THE BARNACLES
Recently seen is what appears to be a Thargoid ship coming into close proximity of the Thargoid Barnacles found. The ship appears to disable ship operations as usual when it arrives near any Human technology, the ship then proceeds to fire some sort of what can only be described as an extraction beam towards the barnacle.
This beam is centered around the barnacles main head, and proceeds to fire this beam for several seconds, during this time small stones rocks and even players SRV’s are dragged up into the air
around that are around the barnacle, if you are flying in the air at the time this can be lethal, as multiple ships have crashed and been destroyed or received damage from the encounter.
During this time, it appears via the direction of the beams flow to be transferring or possible extracting something from the Barnacle, though we cannot confirm anything at this point in time. Also no Meta alloys disappear or are removed from the site during it’s appearance.
So far there have been 2 system where this event has happened.

- Pleiades Sector IX-S B4-4
- Hyades Sector AQ-Y D81 (Barnacle Forest)
The Thargoid Ship has also been seen doing a similar thing at the Barnacle forest at Hyades Sector AQ-Y D81 , planet C 2, coords 9, -153. It repeats the similar process, however, this time the Ship will approach the Mega Barnacle and spray some sort of green liquid around, it’s Unknown what this is, and what it is for, it then repeats the extraction process, but this is very extended and differs from the original process we are used to, also please note, your systems do not go offline in this encounter.
